How to Report Scoutbook Service Hours to the Service Hours Reporting Page

In this video, I give you step-by-step instructions on how to export your service hours from Scoutbook, and get them in to the official Boy Scouts of America Service Hours Reporting site.

Pulling the data from Scoutbook

  1. Login at scoutbook.com/mobile
  2. Click on “My Dashboard”
  3. Under the Administration tab, click on the unit you want to create the report for
  4. Scroll down to Troop Reports and click on it.
  5. Click on Activity Log Report
  6. Start date: 1/1/2018, end date today.
  7. Sort by Scout
  8. Uncheck Camping Log and Hiking Log
  9. Click the green run button
  10. Starting with the Column Head called Date, Highlight all the data down to the final Scout Total at the bottom.

Getting the Data into a Spreadsheet

  1. Open your Spreadsheet. I prefer Google Docs, but you can also use Excel.
  2. In cell A1, right click and select Paste
  3. We’ll start organizing the data to make this work as quickly as possible
  4. Delete Column A
  5. Move the headers Date, Hours, Location, and Notes to their matching columns
  6. Give use the pull down tool to fill the names of the Scout with all their service events
  7. We also need to delete the rows with the totals. They will only have number under the hour column.
  8. For aestic purposes, I always freeze the top row so I can see the label.

Creating the Pivot Table

  1. This can seem intimidating, but it’s actually a fairly simple process in Google Sheets.
  2. Highlight the data in the 4 columns
  3. While it’s highlighted open the Data Menu, and select Pivot Table
  4. In the Pivot Table editor on the new tab, Click the word Add under Rows.
  5. We’ll add Location
  6. Next under Values we’ll add Hours, Scout, Date – change that to Median
